The Member representing Umuahia North (Ohuhu) State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Akaliro, who made the inspection visit early Monday morning, August 17, 2026, arrived at the project site at about 7:00 a.m. to assess the progress of the reconstruction and ascertain the standard of work being executed. His early presence at the site shows his commitment to effective representation and his determination to monitor developmental projects within his constituency.
During the inspection, the lawmaker encouraged the workers to execute the project diligently, neatly and professionally, stressing the importance of delivering a facility that would be durable and capable of serving generations of students. He urged them to pay close attention to details and ensure that every aspect of the construction meets the expected standard.
Akaliro noted that school infrastructure plays a critical role in creating a conducive environment for teaching and learning. According to him, the reconstruction of Orieamayi Secondary School represents an important investment in the educational development of the area, particularly at a time when there is growing recognition of the need to improve public school facilities.
The lawmaker also expressed appreciation to the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, for the intervention at the school. He commended the governor for prioritising infrastructure renewal and for extending development projects to communities across the state.
He emphasised that quality education goes beyond curriculum and classroom instruction, noting that students and teachers require safe, functional and conducive learning environments to achieve meaningful educational outcomes. He therefore urged everyone involved in the project to regard the reconstruction as a responsibility to the people rather than merely a construction assignment.
Akaliro further reaffirmed his commitment to monitoring projects and developments within Umuahia North (Ohuhu) State Constituency. He maintained that effective representation requires not only legislative participation but also consistent engagement with communities and attention to projects that directly affect the welfare and future of the people.
The inspection of the Orieamayi Secondary School reconstruction is expected to reinforce attention to the quality and timely completion of the project, while providing students and staff with an improved learning environment upon completion. Akaliro’s visit also highlights his continued advocacy for educational development and improved public infrastructure across Ohuhu.
