The Mayor of Ikwuano Local Government Council, Dr Anthony N. Nwaubani, has inspected the newly completed four-classroom block at Oboni Upa Central School, Usaka Ward, Ariam-Usaka Clan, describing the project as another significant stride towards improving the quality of education and learning infrastructure in the area.
The classroom block was executed under the intervention of the Abia State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), as part of the education-focused initiatives of the administration of Gov. Alex Chioma Otti. The project is aimed at providing a more conducive learning environment for pupils and strengthening basic education infrastructure within the state.
During the inspection, Mayor Nwaubani expressed satisfaction with the completion of the project, noting that the development represents a tangible manifestation of the government's commitment to educational advancement. He commended Gov. Otti for according education a prominent place in his administration's development agenda and for extending critical infrastructure to communities across Abia State.
Nwaubani, who has been deeply involved in the project from its inception, has worked closely with the Councillor representing Usaka Ward, Hon. Chibuike Ekperi, in monitoring the progress of the construction and engaging with members of the community. Their sustained oversight has ensured that the project remained a matter of local interest from the commencement of construction to its completion.
The Mayor described the completion of the classroom block as a moment of collective satisfaction for the local government and the Usaka community. He noted that the project would not only provide additional classroom space but also contribute to creating an environment where pupils can learn with greater comfort, dignity and concentration.
He further emphasised the importance of sustained collaboration between the state government, local government administration, elected ward representatives and host communities in ensuring that public projects achieve their intended objectives. The completion of the four-classroom block is particularly significant for Oboni Upa Central School, as the facility is expected to enhance the school's capacity and improve the general learning environment for pupils and teachers.
