The Member representing Umuahia North (Ohuhu) State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro, has intensified efforts to deepen grassroots political participation, calling on constituents to actively engage in the ongoing Labour Party registration exercise.
The lawmaker made this known during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting held at his constituency office, where he emphasized the urgency of collective involvement in shaping the political future of the area.
Addressing representatives from the five wards that constitute Ohuhu; Umuhu, Afugiri, Nkwoachara, Nkwoegwu, and Isingwu, Akaliro delivered a compelling message centered on civic responsibility and inclusiveness. He urged attendees to recognize the significance of the registration drive as a foundational step toward strengthening democratic participation and ensuring that the voices of the people are adequately represented.
“This is the time to get involved,” Akaliro declared, stressing that sustainable development and effective representation can only be achieved when citizens actively participate in the political process. He further charged ward leaders and stakeholders to return to their respective communities with a renewed sense of purpose, mobilizing residents to register and align with the Labour Party.
The lawmaker underscored that a robust grassroots structure remains indispensable for any political movement seeking to deliver meaningful governance.
