Hon. Obi Aguocha, member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency, has led a sweeping constituency-wide civic reception in honour of Alex Otti, in what observers describe as a powerful endorsement of the governor’s performance and a bold affirmation of his re-election prospects.

The grand reception, which held yesterday, April 10, 2026, at the Umuahia Township Stadium, drew an impressive crowd of political and Religious leaders, traditional rulers, youth organizations, market associations, and civil society groups from across the constituency. Organized under the aegis of the Obi Aguocha Frontliners, the event served as a rallying point for constituents to collectively acknowledge the administration’s achievements and express confidence in its continuity.

Addressing the gathering, Aguocha stated that the event was a reflection of the people’s satisfaction with the trajectory of governance in Abia State.

This reception is not about politics in the narrow sense,” he said. “It is about performance, accountability, and the visible transformation that our people can attest to. When leadership works, the people respond, and that is what we are witnessing here today.”

Aguocha described Gov Alex Otti as compassionate and courageous in leadership, stating that, “He is the only governor who truly cares and took the bold step to visit Nnamdi Kanu. That singular act speaks volumes about empathy, leadership, and a genuine concern for justice and the well-being of our people.”

He further described Otti’s leadership as purposeful and reform-driven, noting that the administration has restored public trust in governance through deliberate policies and transparent execution.

“What we have seen in Abia is a government that understands the urgency of development. Roads are being fixed, institutions are being strengthened, and economic activities are gradually rebounding. These are not mere promises, they are verifiable outcomes,” Aguocha added.

The federal lawmaker emphasized that the phrase “re-election verified” encapsulates the mood of the people, insisting that support for the governor is rooted in measurable progress rather than political sentiment.
Our people are discerning. They do not support blindly. They support what they can see and feel. Today, across Ikwuano and Umuahia, the evidence of good governance is clear, and that is why the call for continuity is growing stronger,” he said.

Aguocha also used the occasion to highlight the importance of sustained collaboration between elected representatives at different levels of government. He noted that synergy between the National Assembly and the state government has enhanced development outcomes, particularly in areas that directly impact the lives of constituents.

We must continue to work together, align our priorities, and ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every community,” he stated.

The event featured a series of goodwill messages from prominent stakeholders who commended the governor’s leadership style and echoed the call for sustained reforms. Cultural performances added colour to the occasion, reflecting the rich heritage and unity of the people, while various groups took turns to publicly declare their support for the administration.

Concluding his remarks, Aguocha reaffirmed his commitment to people-oriented representation and pledged continued support for policies that advance the welfare of the constituency.

Our duty as leaders is to stand with the people and to support what works. Today, we have come together not just to celebrate, but to make a statement that good governance must be encouraged and sustained,” he said.

As the echoes of the reception continue to resonate across the state, the event stands as a significant moment in Abia’s political landscape, signaling a consolidation of grassroots support and a growing consensus around leadership that delivers tangible results.
