The Member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Lucky Udoka Nweke Johnson, has called on his constituents and Nigerians at large to reflect deeply on the significance of Christ’s sacrifice and to embrace peace, unity, and compassion in their daily lives.
In a message marking the solemn observance of Good Friday, Hon. Johnson emphasized that the death of Jesus Christ remains a timeless symbol of love, redemption, and selflessness, urging citizens to draw inspiration from its enduring message to foster harmony within their communities.
He noted that at a time when the nation is confronted with various socio-economic and security challenges, the lessons of Good Friday provide a moral framework for healing and collective progress.
“Good Friday reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice made out of love for humanity. It is a call for us to rise above hatred, division, and selfishness, and to embrace peace, tolerance, and understanding in all our interactions,” Johnson stated.
The lawmaker stressed that peace remains a critical ingredient for sustainable development, adding that communities can only thrive when individuals are committed to coexistence and mutual respect.
“We must be deliberate in promoting peace within our homes, our communities, and across the nation. The sacrifice of Christ teaches us forgiveness and reconciliation. Without these virtues, true progress will remain elusive,” he said.
Hon. Johnson further urged his constituents to embody the spirit of sacrifice by supporting one another, particularly the vulnerable and less privileged, noting that acts of kindness are practical expressions of faith.
“As we reflect on this sacred season, let us extend love to those in need. A peaceful and compassionate society begins with small acts of kindness. We must look out for one another and build a community anchored on care and solidarity,” he added.
He also called on leaders at all levels to emulate the selfless example of Christ by placing the welfare of the people above personal interests, stressing that leadership must be driven by service and accountability.
“Leadership is not about privilege but responsibility. The example of Christ challenges us to serve with sincerity and integrity. If we put the people first, we will foster trust and achieve meaningful development,” Johnson remarked.
Reaffirming his commitment to effective representation, Hon. Johnson assured his constituents that he would continue to champion initiatives that promote peace, development, and inclusiveness across Isuikwuato.
