Abia State| April 3, 2026 —

The Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency, Rt Hon. Obi Aguocha, has called on Nigerians, particularly Christians, to use the solemn occasion of Good Friday as a moment of deep reflection on the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ and its enduring significance for personal and national transformation.

In a statement issued to commemorate the sacred day, Aguocha emphasized that Good Friday serves as a powerful reminder of the ultimate price paid for humanity’s redemption, urging citizens to embrace the virtues of righteousness, compassion, and selflessness in their daily lives.

According to him, “Good Friday is not merely a ritual observance, but a profound call to reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who laid down His life for the salvation of mankind. It challenges us to live uprightly, to love sacrificially, and to pursue justice in all our dealings.”

The lawmaker noted that Nigeria, at this critical juncture of its development, requires leaders and citizens who are guided by moral integrity and a sincere commitment to the common good. He stressed that the lessons of Good Friday should inspire a renewed dedication to ethical leadership and responsible citizenship.

In a time when our nation yearns for healing and progress, the message of the cross speaks volumes. It calls us to abandon selfish interests and embrace righteousness, truth, and accountability. Only through such values can we build a society anchored on justice and equity,” Aguocha stated.

He further encouraged his constituents and Nigerians at large to extend acts of kindness to the less privileged, noting that Christ’s sacrifice was the ultimate demonstration of love for humanity. He urged individuals to replicate that love by supporting one another and fostering unity across religious and ethnic divides.

Let this season rekindle in us the spirit of compassion and unity. As Christ gave Himself for humanity, we too must be willing to make sacrifices for the peace, stability, and progress of our communities and nation,” he added.

Aguocha reaffirmed his commitment to people-centered representation, assuring his constituents that he would continue to uphold the principles of justice, fairness, and service in line with the values symbolized by Good Friday. He concluded by wishing Christians a reflective and spiritually fulfilling good friday, expressing hope that the lessons of the season would inspire a more just and harmonious society.
