Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Obinna Ejebi Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Fallen Soldiers, Stresses Unity and Support for Military

January 15, 2026 —

As Nigeria commemorates the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Prince Obinna Ejebi (Nzesinachi), has paid a moving tribute to the men and women of the Nigerian military who have laid down their lives in service to the nation.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday, Ejebi described the fallen heroes as the true guardians of Nigeria’s unity and sovereignty.

Today is not just a ceremonial observance,” Ejebi said. “It is a solemn moment for all Nigerians to reflect on the immense sacrifices made by our soldiers. These brave men and women gave their lives so that we could enjoy the peace and stability we often take for granted.”

Ejebi emphasized the importance of recognizing the ongoing challenges faced by the armed forces and urged citizens and government alike to provide sustained support for military personnel.

Our military continues to face numerous threats, both from within and outside our borders,” he noted.
It is our duty as a nation to ensure that they are well-equipped, well-trained, and adequately supported in their mission to protect Nigeria.”

Highlighting the role of the military in preserving national unity, Ejebi reflected on the historical and contemporary contributions of Nigerian soldiers.

From defending our borders to maintaining internal peace, the Armed Forces have consistently shown courage and dedication,” he said.
We owe it to them to honor their service not just today, but every day.”

Ejebi also called on Nigerians to demonstrate patriotism through actions, including showing respect for military personnel and supporting initiatives that enhance their welfare.
Remembering our fallen heroes is a way of expressing gratitude, but supporting those still in service is how we sustain the legacy of sacrifice,” he stated.

In closing, Ejebi urged the nation to come together in unity, transcending divisions, as a mark of respect for the soldiers who gave their lives for a united Nigeria.
Their sacrifices remind us that our strength as a nation lies in solidarity, compassion, and commitment to the common good,” he said.

Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed annually, provides an opportunity for Nigerians to honor the bravery and dedication of military personnel, and to reflect on the cost of national security and peace.
