The Executive Mayor of Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, Dr. Anthony Nzeribe Nwaubani, has commended the Labour Party State Chairman, Hon. Peter Azubuike, and other party leaders for demonstrating solidarity and support during the burial ceremony of late Elder Ama C. Chinyere at Amazi, Oloko, in Ikwuano LGA, Abia State.

The burial ceremony attracted the presence of Mayor Nwaubani and members of his executive team, Hon. Azubuike and members of the Labour Party State Executive, as well as leaders and stakeholders of the party in Ikwuano. Their attendance displayed the importance of compassion, fellowship and collective support during moments of grief, as they joined the bereaved family, friends and associates to pay their last respects to the deceased.

Speaking, Mayor Nwaubani expressed delight at the presence of the Labour Party State Chairman, particularly given the short notice of the burial. He appreciated the time and effort made by the party leadership to attend the ceremony, describing their presence as a reassuring demonstration of unity and solidarity among party members and associates.

“We are happy that you could make out time within a very short notice,” the Mayor said, acknowledging the commitment of the party leaders who attended the occasion despite their other engagements. He further expressed pleasant surprise at seeing the State Chairman at the gathering, recounting that he had arrived from another burial when he noticed Hon. Azubuike’s presence.

“It is a wonderful thing that we are here,” he remarked, conveying his appreciation for the opportunity to share in the occasion with fellow party leaders.

The Ikwuano Mayor also commiserated with the family of the late Elder Chinyere, expressing sympathy over their loss and identifying with them in their period of mourning. He acknowledged the pain associated with the passing of a loved one and encouraged the bereaved to find strength in their faith, noting that even in difficult circumstances, people must continue to give thanks to God. The deceased, whose years were recorded as 1958 to 2026, was honoured by family members, friends and associates who gathered to bid him farewell.

The presence of Nwaubani, Azubuike and other Labour Party stakeholders at the burial reflected the spirit of camaraderie and mutual support within the party in Ikwuano and Abia State. Their participation demonstrated that beyond political engagements, shared moments of grief provide opportunities to strengthen relationships, extend compassion and stand firmly with those experiencing personal loss. The ceremony therefore served not only as a final tribute to Elder Chinyere but also as an expression of solidarity with his bereaved family.
