The Mayor of Ikwuano Local Government Area, Hon Anthony .N. Nwaubani, FCA, FCIB, alongside his aides, yesterday joined family members, friends, associates and well-wishers to pay their last respects to the late Ezeji Anthony Amajo Ugah, The Omenma 1 of Ogbuebulle, who passed away at the age of 90.
The funeral ceremony provided an opportunity for mourners to celebrate the life and legacy of the nonagenarian, whose passing marks the end of an era for his family and community.
Late Ezeji Ugah was born on May 15, 1936, and died on May 26, 2026. His remarkable lifespan of nine decades represented a journey through different phases of personal, family and community history. The funeral gathering brought together people from different walks of life to honour his memory and offer condolences to the bereaved family.
The Ikwuano Mayor joined other dignitaries and sympathisers in honouring the departed elder and expressing support for the family as they navigated the difficult period of mourning. His attendance also reflected the significance of maintaining cordial relationships with families and communities across the local government area.
In his condolence message, the Mayor expressed sympathy with the family, relatives and associates of the deceased, acknowledging the pain that accompanies the loss of a loved one. He noted that although death is an inevitable part of human existence, the memories, values and positive influence of a departed elder remain a source of strength and inspiration to those left behind.
“The passing of Elder Anthony Amajo Ugah at the age of 90 is a loss to his family and all those who knew and cherished him. On behalf of my family and the good people of Ikwuano, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. I pray that God grants them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss and preserves the cherished memories of their patriarch. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
The Mayor’s participation in the funeral further highlighted the value of empathy, respect for the elderly and support for grieving families within the community. The family and community will continue to cherish the memories of Elder Ugah as they come to terms with his departure.
