The people of Ofeke Azueke Ibeku in Abia State have expressed profound appreciation to the Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha, for donating ₦1.7 million towards the energisation of the community’s electricity transformer.
The gesture, according to the community, represents another demonstration of Aguocha’s commitment to addressing critical needs affecting his constituents and improving the living conditions of rural communities within the federal constituency.
In a statement expressing the community’s appreciation, Ndi Ofeke recalled Aguocha’s intervention in the agitation for the rehabilitation and tarring of the Ofeke Road, noting that the lawmaker had previously knelt before Gov. Alex Chioma Otti to passionately appeal for government attention to the road. They described his latest intervention as further evidence that his advocacy is complemented by tangible action.
The community said the ₦1.7 million donation would assist in energising its transformer, a development expected to pave the way for residents to regain access to electricity and stimulate social and economic activities in the area.
According to the residents, access to reliable electricity remains crucial to the development of Ofeke, particularly for small businesses, artisans, students and households that depend on power for their daily activities. They therefore described Aguocha’s contribution as timely and significant.
The community further commended the federal lawmaker for demonstrating what it described as people-oriented representation, stressing that his interventions have continued to resonate with constituents beyond political rhetoric. They noted that his willingness to respond to pressing community needs had strengthened their confidence in his commitment to grassroots development.
“Sir, we sincerely appreciate this great gesture. Your support means a lot to the people of Ofeke Azueke Ibeku, and we will never take it for granted,” the community stated, while praying for God’s continued blessings, strength, protection and greater accomplishments for the lawmaker.
The people of Ofeke also expressed optimism that the intervention would mark the beginning of improved electricity supply and broader development in the community. They said the gesture would remain memorable to residents who, according to them, value leaders who respond when their communities need assistance.
The community's commendation comes amid Aguocha’s continued advocacy for infrastructure and human-capital development across the Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency. His interventions have included educational support, road advocacy, community development initiatives and other constituency-focused programmes.
While expressing gratitude for the donation, the people of Ofeke said they would continue to monitor developments in the community and remember individuals who supported them at critical moments.
They therefore indicated intention to reciprocate Aguocha’s consistent support at the polls, expressing readiness to back his bid for another term in the 2027 general election.
The residents said their decision would be informed by what they described as his visible interventions, accessibility and responsiveness to the needs of the people, stressing that they would support the continuation of a representation they believe has remained connected to grassroots concerns.
They concluded their message with prayers for Aguocha and an affirmation of their appreciation for his intervention.
