Ikwuano, Abia State| September 18, 2026 —
The Executive Mayor of Ikwuano Local Government Council, Hon. Anthony Nzeribe Nwaubani, Ph.D., FCA, FCIB, has felicitated the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha, on the occasion of his birthday, describing him as a friend to all and a committed public servant.
In a goodwill message, Mayor Nwaubani joined family members, friends, political associates, constituents and well-wishers in celebrating the federal lawmaker, whom he described as a personable and accessible leader whose relationships cut across political, social and community boundaries.
The Mayor particularly highlighted two legislative initiatives associated with Aguocha as having significant implications for the future development of Ikwuano and the wider federal constituency: the Bill seeking to establish a Federal Medical Centre in Ikwuano and the constitutional amendment Bill seeking the creation of Ikwuano North and Ikwuano South Local Government Areas.
Nwaubani said the two initiatives have the potential to address important developmental and administrative needs across Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South, particularly by strengthening healthcare infrastructure and bringing grassroots administration closer to the people.
According to him, “Rt Hon Obi Aguocha is a friend to all, and on his birthday, I celebrate not only the man but also his commitment to the people he represents. His efforts towards attracting enduring institutions and advancing legislative initiatives of direct relevance to our communities deserve recognition. The proposed Federal Medical Centre in Ikwuano and the initiative for the creation of Ikwuano North and Ikwuano South are issues of fundamental importance to our collective development.”
The Mayor further stated, “These initiatives speak to the kind of long-term transformation that can reshape Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South. A Federal Medical Centre would strengthen access to healthcare and create wider opportunities in the health sector, while the proposed restructuring of Ikwuano is aimed at bringing governance and development closer to the grassroots.
On this special occasion, my prayer for my brother and friend is for more grace for higher service to humanity and God.”
He noted that the proposed medical centre, if assented to and established, would have implications beyond healthcare delivery, with the potential to expand employment opportunities and support medical services and human capital development within the constituency and neighbouring communities.
Nwaubani also expressed optimism that the constitutional process surrounding the proposed Ikwuano North and Ikwuano South Local Government Areas would receive the necessary attention and proceed in accordance with the constitutional requirements governing the creation and recognition of new local government areas.
The Mayor concluded by wishing Aguocha a fulfilling birthday and praying for renewed strength, wisdom, divine favour and greater opportunities for service.
He said the celebrant’s new year should mark the beginning of another chapter of meaningful contributions to his constituents, Abia State and humanity, while wishing him “more grace for higher service to humanity and God.”
