Osun Workers Celebrate Adeleke’s Victory as Aregbesola Calls for Unity

Civil servants in Osun State have celebrated Gov. Ademola Adeleke’s re-election, gathering in large numbers at the state secretariat in Abere on Monday to express their excitement over his victory in the August 15 governorship election.

The workers, who converged on the secretariat, praised the outcome of the election and expressed optimism that Adeleke’s second term would bring further improvements to the welfare of workers and the development of the state.

Adeleke, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, secured re-election in the keenly contested poll, defeating his major challenger, the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

The governor’s victory has generated celebrations across parts of the state, with supporters describing the result as an endorsement of his administration and its policies.

The workers’ celebration came amid a series of congratulatory messages from political leaders and organisations following the declaration of Adeleke as winner of the election.

Former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, also congratulated Adeleke on his electoral victory, urging the governor to use his second term to foster unity and ensure that the state benefits from peaceful and purposeful governance.

Aregbesola’s message came as several other political figures congratulated the governor and called on him to extend a hand of fellowship to his opponents while prioritising the interests of all residents of Osun State.

The re-election has also renewed calls for the governor to consolidate on his administration’s achievements and pursue policies capable of improving the economic fortunes of the state.

Meanwhile, different groups and political actors have continued to react to the outcome of the election. Some have described Adeleke’s victory as a reflection of the electorate’s choice, while others have called for accountability and a thorough review of issues surrounding the conduct of the poll.

Following his victory, Adeleke has appealed for unity and indicated his readiness to work for the entire state, regardless of political affiliation.

The governor’s second term is expected to bring renewed attention to governance, workers’ welfare, infrastructure, economic development and the consolidation of projects initiated during his first tenure.
