Executive Mayor of Ikwuano Local Government council, Dr. Anthony N. Nwaubani, has led a crucial meeting of critical stakeholders of the Labour Party in Ikwuano, with the gathering focusing on strengthening internal cohesion, deepening grassroots mobilisation and charting a more coordinated path for the party’s continued growth across the four clans of the local government.
The strategic meeting, held at the Office of the Executive Mayor, brought together prominent Labour Party stakeholders, political leaders, government appointees and other key actors within the Ikwuano political structure. The gathering provided an important platform for frank discussions on issues affecting the unity, stability and effectiveness of the party at the grassroots.
Among those present were the Leader of the Labour Party Stakeholders Forum in Ikwuano, Barr. Dr. Monday O. Ubani, SAN; Member representing Oloko State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Boniface Isienyi; Ikwuano Local Government Labour Party Chairman, Hon. Chiedozie Egbe; Chairman of the Abia State Lottery Board, Chief Chikezie Owoebe; and Director-General of the Ministry of Finance Incorporated, Hon. Hyacinth Osinachi Nwaka.
Also at the meeting were Hon. Chimeremeze Emeruwa, Senior Adviser to the Governor on Digital Communication; Dr. Sir Friday Eluwa, Chairman of Abia SME Microfinance Bank; Chief Okezie Ebilah; Engr. Wilson Onwubali; and other stakeholders representing different wards and political interests across Ikwuano.
Deliberations at the meeting centred substantially on the imperative of maintaining unity within the Labour Party and strengthening its organisational structure across the four clans of Ikwuano. Participants critically examined existing issues within the party, exchanged perspectives and explored practical ways of resolving areas of concern in the collective interest of the party and its members.
The meeting also underscored the importance of constructive engagement, mutual understanding and collective responsibility in building a formidable political structure. Rather than allowing differences to undermine the party’s cohesion, stakeholders emphasised the need for dialogue and consensus as instruments for sustaining stability and advancing the common political aspirations of members.
Mayor Nwaubani, who presided over the meeting, reaffirmed his commitment to promoting unity and inclusiveness within the Labour Party in Ikwuano, stressing the importance of working together across wards and clans. He maintained that a strong political organisation must be founded on cooperation, respect for diverse perspectives and a shared commitment to the larger interests of the people.
According to him, the strength of the party in Ikwuano would continue to depend on the ability of its leaders and members to put aside individual differences, maintain open channels of communication and work collectively towards common objectives. He further encouraged stakeholders to remain committed to grassroots engagement and to continue providing leadership that reflects the aspirations of the people.
The Mayor also expressed satisfaction with the depth and quality of the discussions, noting that the meeting offered stakeholders an opportunity to address critical matters openly and identify a constructive way forward. He appreciated the participants for their candour, maturity and commitment to the progress of the party.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with participants expressing a renewed sense of purpose and determination to strengthen the Labour Party’s presence and organisational capacity across Ikwuano. The stakeholders left the meeting with a stronger resolve to foster unity, improve coordination and deepen grassroots mobilisation.
The meeting is expected to further consolidate the existing political structure in Ikwuano while providing a platform for sustained engagement among party leaders and stakeholders. It also demonstrated the willingness of the local government’s political leadership to encourage dialogue and collective action in pursuit of a more cohesive and effective Labour Party structure.
