The Member representing Umuahia North (Ohuhu) State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro, has attracted the reconstruction of Orieamayi Secondary School in Ohuhu, describing the intervention as another significant step towards improving educational infrastructure and creating a more conducive learning environment for students in the constituency.
The project underscores Akaliro’s sustained efforts to attract meaningful development to Umuahia North, particularly in the education sector, where dilapidated and inadequate facilities have continued to pose challenges to effective teaching and learning.
Akaliro, while speaking on the project, commended the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, for his administration’s support and commitment to transforming public infrastructure across the state.
He said the reconstruction of Orieamayi Secondary School was a demonstration of what could be achieved when constituency needs are identified, presented to the appropriate authorities and given the necessary governmental attention.
“I am grateful to our amiable Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, for his support and for ensuring that this important intervention is receiving the attention it deserves. Education is one area we must continue to prioritise because whatever we invest in our schools today is an investment in the future of our children and our communities,” Akaliro said.
The lawmaker noted that attracting the project was informed by the need to provide students and teachers at Orieamayi Secondary School with a better and more suitable environment for academic activities. He stressed that quality educational infrastructure remains essential to the development of human capital and the advancement of communities.
“As a representative of the people, I will continue to identify the needs of my constituents and pursue interventions that will bring tangible value to their lives. The reconstruction of Orieamayi Secondary School is one of those interventions, and I am particularly pleased that we are able to bring this kind of development to our people in Ohuhu,” he stated.
Akaliro also expressed confidence that the project would contribute meaningfully to the improvement of the school’s physical environment and ultimately enhance the learning experience of students.
He added that the intervention was consistent with the broader developmental vision of the Otti administration, which, according to him, has placed considerable emphasis on rebuilding critical infrastructure and improving the quality of public services across Abia State.
“I want to sincerely commend Gov. Otti for his responsiveness and his willingness to support projects that directly affect our people. This is the kind of partnership between government and elected representatives that produces results. I will continue to work with the administration to attract more developmental projects to Umuahia North,” Akaliro added.
As part of his commitment to ensuring that projects attracted to the constituency are properly implemented, Akaliro visited the Orieamayi Secondary School site at about 7:00 a.m. on Monday, August 17, to observe the progress of the reconstruction.
During the brief inspection, he encouraged the workers to maintain high standards of workmanship and ensure that the project is executed neatly, professionally and in accordance with the required specifications.
The lawmaker’s intervention at Orieamayi Secondary School adds to his efforts to leverage his legislative position to attract development to Umuahia North, with education remaining a key area of focus.
Akaliro maintained that effective representation should translate into visible improvements in the lives of constituents, expressing determination to continue pursuing projects and initiatives capable of addressing the pressing needs of the people of Ohuhu.
Orieamayi Secondary School reconstruction is expected to provide a more conducive learning environment for students and teachers upon completion, while further complementing ongoing efforts by the Abia State Government to upgrade educational infrastructure across the state.
