The Member representing Umuahia North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro, has joined millions across Nigeria in celebrating Father's Day, paying glowing tribute to fathers for their invaluable contributions to family life and societal development while urging them to continue leading their homes with love, wisdom, and faith.
In a goodwill message issued on Sunday, Akaliro described fathers as the bedrock of strong families and thriving communities, noting that their sacrifices, guidance, and unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of their families remain indispensable to the growth and stability of society. He commended fathers across Umuahia North for their resilience and dedication in fulfilling their responsibilities despite prevailing economic and social challenges.
The lawmaker stated that fatherhood carries profound responsibilities that extend beyond providing material needs. According to him, fathers serve as mentors, protectors, counselors, and moral guides whose influence plays a crucial role in shaping the character, values, and future of their children. He emphasized that the quality of leadership demonstrated within the home often determines the strength and success of future generations.
Akaliro noted that in a world increasingly confronted by moral and social pressures, fathers must embrace their roles as custodians of family values and agents of positive change. He encouraged them to lead by example through integrity, compassion, discipline, and commitment to truth, stressing that children are more likely to emulate actions than mere words.
The Umuahia North rep further urged fathers to anchor their leadership on love, wisdom, and faith. He explained that love fosters unity and emotional security within the family, wisdom enables sound judgment and effective decision-making, while faith provides the spiritual foundation necessary to navigate life's uncertainties and challenges. According to him, homes built upon these virtues are better positioned to raise responsible, productive, and God-fearing children.
Speaking on the significance of Father's Day, Akaliro said the occasion offers an opportunity to appreciate the countless sacrifices made by fathers, many of whom work tirelessly and make personal compromises to ensure the comfort, education, and success of their families. He observed that while the efforts of fathers may not always receive public recognition, their impact remains deeply felt in the lives of their children and communities.
The lawmaker also called on families to celebrate and honour fathers for their devotion and commitment, noting that expressions of gratitude help strengthen family bonds and encourage parents to continue making meaningful contributions to the upbringing of their children. He stressed that a society that values responsible fatherhood is more likely to enjoy peace, stability, and sustainable development.
Akaliro further urged fathers to remain steadfast in nurturing the next generation with sound moral principles and a strong sense of responsibility. He emphasized that the future of every community depends largely on the quality of values instilled in young people today, making the role of fathers more important than ever.
While extending his warm felicitations to fathers across Umuahia North and beyond, the lawmaker prayed for God's continued blessings, protection, wisdom, and good health upon them. He expressed hope that they would continue to discharge their duties with courage, humility, and unwavering faith.
"Fatherhood is a noble calling that demands sacrifice, commitment, and selfless service. As we celebrate Father's Day, I encourage all fathers to continue leading their families with love, wisdom, and faith. Your influence is shaping the future of our society, and your sacrifices are deeply appreciated. May God continue to strengthen and bless you abundantly," Akaliro stated.
