Aguocha Camp Slams Alleged Smear Campaign, Says Opponents Resorting to Falsehoods Ahead of 2027 Contest

The media team of Hon. Obi Aguocha, the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has strongly condemned what it described as a deliberate smear campaign allegedly orchestrated by political opponents ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued by the Ogwumabiri Media Team, the camp of the federal lawmaker dismissed as false and misleading allegations that Aguocha received ₦100 billion for constituency projects. The media team described the claim as baseless propaganda designed to misinform constituents and undermine the growing popularity and political influence of the lawmaker within the constituency.

According to the statement, the allegations were not only unfounded but also reflected what it called the desperation of individuals who have allegedly failed to engage in constructive political discourse. The media team maintained that rather than focusing on issues of governance, development, and effective representation, certain political actors had chosen the path of misinformation and character attacks in a bid to gain political advantage ahead of future electoral contests.

The statement further asserted that Hon. Aguocha had deliberately refrained from engaging in personal attacks despite repeated provocations from opponents. It noted that the lawmaker's preference has always been issue-based politics anchored on performance, accountability, and service delivery. The media team challenged critics to present their records of public service and achievements, insisting that constituents are capable of evaluating leaders based on measurable contributions rather than political rhetoric.

Defending the federal legislator's stewardship, the media team highlighted Aguocha's consistent advocacy on national issues, his legislative interventions, and his efforts to attract developmental projects and opportunities to the constituency. It argued that the lawmaker's growing acceptance among the people was a direct result of his commitment to effective representation and his willingness to speak boldly on matters affecting his constituents and the nation at large.

The statement also urged residents of Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South to disregard what it described as fabricated allegations intended to tarnish the image of the lawmaker. It assured constituents that details of projects and initiatives facilitated by Hon. Aguocha would continue to be made public, enabling the people to independently assess the impact of his representation.

Reaffirming its readiness to respond to what it termed misinformation and false narratives, the media team stated that opponents should prepare for issue-based scrutiny rather than relying on allegations and political mudslinging. It expressed confidence that the achievements and legislative efforts of Hon. Aguocha would ultimately speak for themselves and strengthen the confidence reposed in him by the people.

The statement concluded by urging political stakeholders to embrace civility, healthy competition, and fact-based engagement as the political atmosphere gradually begins to build toward the 2027 elections. It emphasized that the people of the constituency deserve campaigns centered on ideas, development, and credible leadership rather than divisive rhetoric and unfounded accusations.
