The Member representing Umuahia North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro, has felicitated with Muslim faithful across Nigeria on the celebration of this year’s Eid El Kabir, calling on citizens to embrace the virtues of peace, kindness, sacrifice, and national unity for the healing and progress of the country.
In a Sallah message issued on Thursday, Akaliro described Eid El Kabir as a deeply significant spiritual occasion that reflects total obedience to God, compassion for humanity, and the importance of selfless sacrifice. He noted that the lessons of the festival remain critical in addressing the social, economic, and security challenges confronting Nigeria.
The lawmaker urged Nigerians to allow the spirit of Eid to inspire greater understanding, tolerance, and mutual respect among people of different religious and ethnic backgrounds. According to him, national healing can only be achieved when citizens deliberately promote love, peaceful coexistence, and unity above sentiments capable of dividing the country.
Akaliro emphasized that Nigeria’s diversity should be seen as a source of strength rather than division, stressing that collective progress depends on the willingness of leaders and citizens alike to work together for the common good. He called on political leaders to govern with sincerity, fairness, and compassion while prioritizing policies that would improve the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.
He further encouraged well-meaning individuals to use the occasion of Eid El Kabir to support the less privileged, including widows, orphans, internally displaced persons, and struggling families affected by economic hardship. He stated that genuine acts of kindness and generosity remain central to the true essence of the celebration.
The Abia legislator also commended Muslim faithful for their continuous prayers for peace and stability in Nigeria, expressing optimism that the nation would overcome its present difficulties through unity, resilience, and responsible leadership. He urged Nigerians not to lose faith in the country but to continue contributing positively toward nation-building.
Akaliro reaffirmed his commitment to promoting policies and legislative initiatives that would strengthen social harmony, justice, and inclusive development within Abia State and Nigeria at large. He added that sustainable peace and national growth require collaboration, understanding, and a shared sense of responsibility among citizens.
While wishing Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid El Kabir celebration, Akaliro prayed for God’s blessings, protection, and wisdom upon the nation’s leaders and citizens.
“May the spirit of Eid inspire peace in our hearts, kindness in our actions, and healing across our nation. Together, we can build a more united, peaceful, and prosperous Nigeria,” he stated.
