The Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Obi Aguocha, has extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful across Nigeria as they celebrate this year’s Eid El Kabir, urging citizens to embrace the virtues of love, sacrifice, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence for the progress of the nation.
In his Sallah message issued on Thursday, Aguocha described Eid El Kabir as a sacred season that reminds humanity of the importance of faith, obedience to God, selflessness, and compassion toward one another, especially the vulnerable and less privileged in society.
The federal lawmaker noted that Nigeria’s diversity remains one of its greatest strengths, stressing that mutual respect among people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds is essential for national peace and development. He called on Nigerians to use the festive period as an opportunity to promote unity, reconciliation, and understanding across communities.
According to him, the current challenges confronting the nation require collective responsibility, sincere leadership, and a renewed commitment to the ideals of justice, equity, and patriotism. He emphasized that lasting progress can only be achieved when citizens place national interest above sectional and personal considerations.
Aguocha further commended Muslim faithful for their prayers and continued contributions to the advancement of peace and social harmony in the country. He encouraged Nigerians not to lose hope despite prevailing economic and security concerns, expressing confidence that the nation would overcome its difficulties through unity, resilience, and God’s guidance.
The lawmaker also urged privileged individuals and public office holders to remember the less fortunate during the celebration by extending acts of kindness and charity to widows, orphans, displaced persons, and struggling families. He noted that the true essence of Eid El Kabir lies in sacrifice, generosity, and love for humanity.
While wishing Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyful Eid celebration, Aguocha prayed for enduring peace, stability, and prosperity in Nigeria. He reaffirmed his commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to promote policies and initiatives that would improve the welfare of the people and strengthen national cohesion.
“May this sacred celebration renew our collective hope for a better Nigeria and inspire us all to build a nation founded on peace, justice, unity, and compassion,” Aguocha stated.
