Otti’s Achievements Are Loud, Speak for Themselves — Obioma Dismisses Sowore’s Verdict

Umuahia, Abia State| March 25, 2026 —

The Chief Whip of the Abia State House of Assembly and Member representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. Emeka Tommy Jacob-Obioma, has strongly defended Gov. Alex Otti’s administration, dismissing recent criticisms by activist Omoyele Sowore as unfounded and lacking depth.

Reacting to Sowore’s claim that the governor’s performance in Aba amounts to a “half-transformation,” Obioma described the assertion as a “cheap hatchet job” that fails to reflect the realities on ground. He argued that meaningful governance and structural reforms cannot be fairly assessed through a fleeting visit, insisting that the activist’s judgment was both premature and misleading.

Sowore, who had visited Aba and participated in a protest linked to Nnamdi Kanu, had stated in a widely circulated video that although some improvements were noticeable, they fell short of what he termed “total transformation,”  a remark that has since generated significant public debate.

However, Obioma pushed back firmly against that narrative, emphasizing that spending less than 24 hours in Abia State does not provide sufficient scope for a comprehensive evaluation of an administration’s performance. According to him, such conclusions undermine the complexity of governance and the gradual nature of infrastructural and economic renewal.

“The achievements of Dr Alex Otti are loud and speak for themselves,” Obioma stated. “From the ongoing road rehabilitation projects to improved sanitation and the restoration of street lighting across Aba, there is visible and measurable progress that cannot be dismissed with a casual observation.”

The lawmaker further noted that residents of Aba, who are the direct beneficiaries of the administration’s policies, have continued to express satisfaction with the pace and direction of development. He maintained that public sentiment within the commercial hub reflects growing confidence in the governor’s reform-driven agenda.

Obioma also underscored that transformation is a process rather than an event, requiring sustained investment, strategic planning, and time to yield full results. He cautioned against what he described as politically motivated or sensational critiques that fail to acknowledge incremental gains.

While reiterating his respect for diverse opinions in a democratic setting, the Abia Assembly Chief Whip urged commentators and public figures to adopt a more balanced and evidence-based approach when assessing governance. He stressed that constructive criticism should be rooted in thorough engagement rather than superficial impressions.

Hon Obioma concluded that the administration of Gov Alex Chioma Otti remains firmly on course, delivering tangible improvements and laying a solid foundation for sustainable development across Abia State.
