The Chief Whip of the Abia State House of Assembly and Member representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. Emeka Obioma, has applauded the decision of the Member representing Aba North and Aba South Federal Constituency, Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh, to join the Labour Party, describing the move as a significant step toward strengthening progressive governance in Abia State.
Hon. Obioma, while welcoming the federal legislator to the Labour party, stated that Ikwechegh’s decision to align with the Party reflects the growing confidence that credible leaders across the state now have in the party’s vision and leadership. According to him, the Labour Party has steadily emerged as a platform driven by integrity, accountability, and a sincere commitment to the welfare of the people.
The Umuahia South lawmaker emphasized that the growing acceptance of the party among political leaders and citizens alike is a clear indication that the Labour Party represents the aspirations of the people of Abia. He noted that many leaders are increasingly identifying with the party because of its focus on purposeful governance and its determination to deliver tangible results that directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens.
Hon. Obioma further praised the leadership of the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, whom he described as a visionary leader whose reforms and development initiatives have begun to redefine governance in the state. He noted that the administration has demonstrated a strong commitment to transparency, infrastructural renewal, and responsible management of public resources.
According to him, the progress already being witnessed across different sectors of the state is a testament to the governor’s determination to rebuild Abia and restore the confidence of the people in government. He added that the administration’s emphasis on accountability and service delivery has positioned the state on a path of sustainable development.
The Chief Whip expressed confidence that Hon. Ikwechegh’s entrance into the Labour Party will further strengthen the party’s structure and enhance collaboration among leaders working toward the collective progress of the state. He noted that the experience and political influence of the federal lawmaker would contribute significantly to the party’s mission of advancing people oriented policies and deepening democratic dividends across Abia.
Hon. Obioma therefore called on stakeholders, party faithful, and citizens across the state to continue supporting the Labour Party and the administration of Gov Otti. He reiterated that the party remains committed to building a better and more prosperous Abia where governance is anchored on integrity, inclusiveness, and genuine service to the people.
