The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, on Saturday paid glowing tribute to President Bola Tinubu ahead of his 74th birthday, expressing confidence that the President would secure a second term in office before his next birthday anniversary.
Barau’s remarks were contained in a congratulatory message issued in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir.
President Tinubu, who was born on March 29, 1952, will clock 74 on Sunday.
In the message, the lawmaker commended the President’s leadership and reform efforts since assuming office in May 2023, noting that his administration had remained focused on repositioning the country for long-term growth and stability.
He said, “Happy 74th birthday to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Tinubu.
“He is a visionary leader who has been working tirelessly for the past 34 months to reposition our country for the benefit of both present and future generations.”
Barau also offered prayers for the President, asking God to grant him sound health and longevity to realise his vision of transforming Nigeria into a prosperous nation.
The Deputy Senate President further expressed optimism about Tinubu’s electoral prospects, projecting a decisive victory for the President in the 2027 general election.
“By the grace of God, Nigerians will overwhelmingly vote for President Tinubu come January 16, 2027, when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will conduct the presidential election.
“I have no doubt that by this time next year, when we will be celebrating his 75th birthday, he will be the president-elect for his second term. The victory will herald his birthday celebration,” he said.
He urged Nigerians to continue supporting the administration, stressing that the President remains committed to advancing the nation’s development and addressing its challenges.
Senator Barau, who is also the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, reaffirmed the backing of the National Assembly for the President’s policies and programmes.
He said, “We stand with the President on this journey to address our nation’s challenges for the benefit of our people.”
