Prince Obinna Ejebi (Nzesinachi) has reacted to the recent judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja on the leadership of the Labour Party, describing the ruling as a reaffirmation of the rule of law and a crucial step toward restoring stability and internal cohesion within the party.
In his response to the court decision delivered by Justice Peter Lifu, which upheld the Nenadi Usman led caretaker executive in line with the Supreme Court verdict of April 4, 2025, Ejebi noted that the judgment has brought long awaited clarity to an issue that had generated uncertainty among party members and supporters nationwide. He emphasized that respect for judicial pronouncements remains the bedrock of democratic practice and institutional credibility.
Nzesinachi used the opportunity to commend the Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Chioma Otti, for what he described as steadfast, disciplined, and visionary leadership throughout the period of internal party challenges. According to him, Gov Otti’s calm disposition, commitment to due process, and refusal to be drawn into divisive tendencies have strengthened the moral standing of the Labour Party both within Abia State and beyond.
He stated that the governor’s leadership exemplifies the values of patience, accountability, and focus on governance, noting that while the leadership dispute lingered at the national level, the Abia State government under Otti remained firmly committed to delivering meaningful reforms and people centered policies. Ejebi said this approach has helped to sustain public confidence in the Labour Party as a credible platform for progressive governance.
Reacting further, Ejebi described the affirmation of Senator Nenadi Usman as head of the caretaker executive as an opportunity for renewal and reconciliation within the party. He expressed confidence in her experience and administrative capacity to guide the Labour Party through a transparent and inclusive transition process leading to a credible national convention.
Obinna Ejebi called on party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters to embrace unity and place the collective interest of the party above personal considerations. He stressed that internal divisions only weaken the party’s ability to offer effective leadership and serve as a viable alternative in Nigeria’s democratic space.
He also urged party faithful to remain law abiding and to channel their energies toward strengthening internal democracy, grassroots engagement, and policy driven politics. According to Ejebi, the present moment calls for maturity, restraint, and a renewed commitment to the core ideals upon which the Labour Party was founded.
