Political Leaders Must Match Gov Otti’s Momentum in Umuahia Central — Prince Obinna Ejebi

Prince Obinna Ejebi (Nzesinachi), a rising political figure in Umuahia, has urged leaders across the state capital, particularly in Umuahia Central, to complement the infrastructural strides of the governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti, with visible legislative and constituency based responsibilities. 

He stressed that development must be holistic, insisting that executive action alone cannot replace effective representation at the grassroots.

Speaking to journalists in Umuahia, Ejebi praised Gov Otti’s infrastructure driven governance, describing it as bold, deliberate and people oriented. He noted that the ongoing transformation of the state capital has raised public expectations, adding that such momentum must be matched by elected representatives who are directly accountable to the people.

Furthermore, Ejebi expressed concern that some political office holders appear to be riding on the popularity of the governor’s projects without making independent, verifiable contributions to their constituencies. He said representation must not be symbolic, adding that lawmakers should be visibly engaged in community advocacy, oversight and constituency development.

According to him, political leaders whose constituencies fall under the metropolis where the governor offloads his infracture disposition should understand that their role

go beyond appearances at public functions. 

“They should lay emphasis on the importance of policy engagement, legislative productivity and consistent interaction with constituents.”

Ejebi, who is a strong advocate of good governance and Gov Alex Otti's development projection, said every political ambition should be anchored on service, not status. He stated that the people deserve leaders who will amplify their voices, protect their interests and actively support the developmental vision of the state government through concrete legislative action.

He further noted that the current wave of infrastructural renewal under Dr Alex Otti should not be used as political camouflage by any leader who is failing to deliver on core responsibilities. According to him, real leadership is tested by personal contribution, not borrowed achievements.

Prince Ejebi concluded by assuring residents of Umuahia Central that a new era of people focused representation is possible. He called on political leaders to rise to the demands of the moment, stressing that the future belongs to those who work, not those who hide.
