Hon. Onyekwere Akym Uche (OAU), former Abia State governorship candidate and founder of the OAU foundation, has praised the Super Eagles of Nigeria for their resilience and fighting spirit during the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
He also urged Nigerians to continue showing unwavering support for the national team.
Speaking on the team’s recent performance, Onyekwere Akym, widely recognized for his dedication to humanitarian causes and his commitment to the welfare of Abia North residents, highlighted the courage and discipline demonstrated by the players throughout their matches. He noted that football is not only about winning but also about character, perseverance, and representing the nation with pride. According to him, the Super Eagles have consistently shown these qualities, and their efforts should be celebrated regardless of individual match results.
“The Super Eagles have shown incredible resilience, determination, and skill on the pitch,” Akym said. “They fought every minute of every game, and their performance reflects the heart and strength of our nation. We should celebrate their courage and commitment, not just the results.”
OAU urged Nigerians to continue supporting the team, stressing that encouragement from fans can have a positive impact on players’ morale. He warned against negative criticism, which can dampen the spirits of athletes who are representing millions of Nigerians on an international stage.
“Our players need us now more than ever,” he said. “They are carrying the hopes of a nation, and our support can inspire them to push harder and achieve even greater heights. Every cheer, every word of encouragement matters to them.”
He also commended the coaching staff for their efforts in preparing the team, noting that managing a national squad comes with significant challenges and responsibilities. Hon Akym expressed confidence that the technical team would continue to guide the Super Eagles with strategy, discipline, and focus, ensuring that the players remain competitive in upcoming matches.
In conclusion, OAU reaffirmed his belief in the team’s potential and resilience.
“The journey of the Super Eagles is far from over,” he said. “With continued support from Nigerians at home and abroad, our team will rise stronger, face future challenges with confidence, and make the nation proud. Let us stand by them as they strive for excellence on the continental stage.”
