Abia State| September 16, 2026 —
Residents of Ubani Housing Estate have commended the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha, for fulfilling his promise to provide and install streetlights in the estate.
The residents expressed their appreciation following the installation of the streetlights shortly after the lawmaker made the commitment, describing the swift execution as a demonstration of responsive representation and sensitivity to the needs of the people.
According to the residents, what particularly impressed them was the speed with which the promise was translated into action. They said Aguocha did not merely assure them that the streetlights would be provided, but followed through and ensured that the installation was carried out the very next day.
They noted that the intervention would contribute significantly to improving visibility and security within the community, particularly during the night. The residents further observed that functional street lighting would make movement easier after dark and potentially help deter criminal activities within the neighbourhood.
The estate residents said the development had reinforced their confidence in Aguocha's approach to constituency representation, stressing that effective leadership should be measured not only by promises made but by the ability to respond promptly to legitimate community needs.
They further praised Aguocha for maintaining a close connection with the grassroots, stressing that responsive representation is best demonstrated when elected officials listen to the concerns of their constituents and take concrete steps to address them. They said the prompt delivery of the streetlights had further strengthened their confidence in the lawmaker's commitment to the welfare of the people.
The residents also used the occasion to declare their support for Aguocha's bid to return to the House of Representatives in 2027. They said their decision was influenced by what they described as his visible commitment to constituency development and his responsiveness to the concerns raised by constituents. They expressed their desire for continuity in the representation of the constituency and encouraged the lawmaker to sustain his people-oriented initiatives.
They maintained that the streetlight project was another example of the importance of maintaining a strong connection between elected representatives and the communities they serve. They urged Aguocha to sustain his engagements with constituents and continue identifying practical interventions capable of improving living conditions across the federal constituency.
The commendation from residents of Ubani housing estate adds to the growing record of constituency interventions associated with Aguocha, whose legislative and community-focused activities have included educational support, infrastructure advocacy and initiatives aimed at addressing the immediate needs of constituents.
