The Executive Mayor of Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, Hon. Dr. Anthony Nzeribe Nwaubani, has declared his unreserved support for the re-election bid of Gov. Alex Chioma Otti, assuring that the people of Ikwuano remain firmly aligned with the administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Nwaubani made the declaration on Friday while assessing developments in Abia State and the emerging political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections. He commended Gov. Otti for what he described as a significant departure from the old order of governance, stressing that the administration had demonstrated a renewed commitment to development, accountability and purposeful leadership.

According to the Ikwuano Mayor, the visible transformation taking place across different sectors of the state has given Abians at home and in the diaspora renewed reasons to be proud of their state. He particularly highlighted developments in road infrastructure, healthcare, education, electricity, economic development and youth participation as evidence of the administration's commitment to improving the quality of life of citizens.

Nwaubani said the government's investment in infrastructure was not merely about constructing physical assets but about creating an enabling environment for economic activities, attracting investment and improving the overall wellbeing of residents. He maintained that the ongoing road projects and other infrastructural interventions were gradually reshaping the state's economic landscape and connecting communities that had previously suffered from years of infrastructural neglect.

He said, “Gov. Alex Otti has shown that government can be intentional, responsible and development-driven. What we are witnessing today is a government that understands the connection between good roads, economic growth, healthcare, education, electricity and the prosperity of the people. These are the things that make governance meaningful to ordinary citizens.”

The Mayor also expressed appreciation to Dr Alex Otti for what he described as the “amazing job” being done across Abia, noting that the administration's achievements had continued to generate confidence among residents and stakeholders. He urged Abians to acknowledge the significance of the changes taking place in the state and support policies capable of sustaining the development trajectory.

“On behalf of the people of Ikwuano, I appreciate His Excellency, Dr Alex Otti, for the remarkable work he is doing in Abia. We have seen a deliberate effort to rebuild the state, restore confidence in governance and create opportunities for our people. These achievements deserve commendation and, more importantly, continuity,” Nwaubani stated.

Turning to the 2027 elections, the Ikwuano mayor declared his total support for Gov Otti's re-election, revealing that grassroots mobilisation for the governor and the Labour Party had already commenced in Ikwuano. He said the mobilisation would focus on engaging communities, stakeholders, youths, women and other critical segments of the electorate ahead of the election.

Nwaubani maintained that Ikwuano remains firmly behind the governor, describing the level of support for Otti in the local government as overwhelming. He expressed confidence that the people would reward the administration's performance with their votes when the time comes.

“There is no competition against His Excellency here. This place is secured, Otti or nothing,” he declared.

The Mayor further argued that elections should be approached as an opportunity for citizens to assess the performance of those in government rather than merely relying on political rhetoric. He said the record of the Otti administration would remain a major reference point as the electorate considers its choices in 2027.

According to him, the people of Ikwuano are interested in leadership that delivers tangible results and not promises that disappear after elections. He therefore called on residents to remain united and protect the development gains recorded under the present administration.

“Our people can see the difference. Leadership is not about making promises; it is about delivering on those promises and leaving lasting impact. Where there is evidence of development, the people should have the courage to support continuity,” Nwaubani added.

He also expressed optimism that the ongoing transformation in Abia would attract greater investment, create more employment opportunities and strengthen the state's position as an emerging economic hub in the South-East.

Nwaubani ultimately described Abia as being “in safe hands” under Gov. Otti, urging Abians to sustain their support for the administration and remain committed to the collective development of the state.

He said the 2027 election would provide an opportunity for the people to consolidate the progress already being recorded, insisting that the governor's performance had created a strong basis for the demand for continuity.

“Abia is in safe hands. What we need now is to consolidate what has been achieved, encourage the government to do more and ensure that the progress we are witnessing does not suffer a reversal. Ikwuano is ready, our people are ready, and we will continue to stand with Gov Alex Otti,” Nwaubani declared.
