“Ohiya Remains Important to Me” — Obioma Commends Ohiya Political Structure for Loyalty to Otti and LP, Reaffirms Commitment to Community Development

Umuahia, Abia State —

The Chief Whip of the Abia State House of Assembly and Member representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. Emeka Obioma, has reaffirmed his enduring commitment to the development of Ohiya Autonomous Community, describing the area as an important constituency in his political and developmental engagements.

Obioma made the remarks during a meeting of the Alex Otti Key Movement, a grassroots political structure established in support of the administration of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, and the Labour Party. The meeting, which attracted prominent political leaders and grassroots stakeholders, was held at Ohiya and hosted at the residence of the leader of the political structure, Lady Ure Abazie.

The gathering also featured the Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha, as political leaders interacted with members of the movement on the importance of grassroots participation, political unity and sustained support for the Otti administration and the Labour Party.

Addressing the gathering, Obioma declared that Ohiya remains important to him, noting that his bond with the community has been strengthened by the quality of leadership and grassroots commitment demonstrated by Lady Ure Abazie. He described her as a dedicated community leader and committed supporter of government programmes who consistently places the interests of her people at the forefront of her engagements.

According to Obioma, Ohiya is fortunate to have a leader of Abazie's calibre, whom he described as a dependable grassroots mobiliser with the capacity to connect government with the people and ensure that available opportunities and interventions translate into tangible benefits for the community.

The lawmaker further noted that Abazie's commitment to Ohiya is evident in the manner she approaches every responsibility entrusted to her. He said she consistently goes beyond expectations to advance the interests of her people, observing that it is difficult to engage her in any meaningful discussion without Ohiya featuring prominently in the conversation.

Obioma reinforced the depth of his relationship with the community by recalling one of his earliest interventions as a legislator. He disclosed that within his first 100 days in office, he initiated three projects, one of which was located in Ohiya. According to him, the intervention reflected his determination from the outset to ensure that communities within his constituency receive tangible dividends of representation.

His remarks, therefore, demonstrated his position that effective representation should not be measured merely by political visibility but by the ability to translate public trust into concrete interventions that improve the lives of constituents. He reiterated his determination to continue supporting initiatives that promote infrastructure, development and the overall wellbeing of the people of Ohiya.

The lawmaker also commended members of the Alex Otti Key Movement for their loyalty and organisational commitment, urging them to remain united and actively engaged in grassroots mobilisation. He stressed that a cohesive political structure is essential to sustaining the administration's development agenda and strengthening the Labour Party at the grassroots.

Obioma's engagement with the Ohiya stakeholders further highlighted the importance of collaboration between elected representatives, community leaders and grassroots political structures. He encouraged the people to continue supporting initiatives that advance the collective interest of Ohiya and Abia State, while assuring them that their aspirations would continue to receive attention within the framework of his representation.

The meeting ended on a note of renewed solidarity, with the political leaders encouraging members of the Alex Otti Key Movement to sustain their commitment to the Labour Party and the administration of Dr Alex Otti. The gathering also reinforced the message that effective grassroots mobilisation, community-focused representation and political unity remain critical to consolidating development gains across Abia State.
