Hon. Obi Aguocha Hosts Strategic Stakeholders’ Meeting Ahead of Labour Party Direct Primary

Ahead of the Labour Party direct primary election scheduled to hold on Saturday, May 30, 2026, the Member representing Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Obi Aguocha, on Friday hosted a strategic stakeholders’ meeting with party leaders and grassroots mobilisers across the federal constituency.

The high level meeting, which drew ward executives, coordinators, community leaders, party faithfuls and other critical stakeholders from various wards within the constituency, was convened to deliberate on preparations, mobilisation strategies and the overall conduct of the forthcoming direct primary election.

Speaking during the engagement, Hon. Aguocha expressed appreciation to party leaders and members for their steadfast commitment, sacrifices and unwavering loyalty towards the growth and consolidation of the Labour Party within Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency. He noted that the strength of the party lies in the unity, discipline and dedication of its grassroots structure.

The federal lawmaker urged members to remain peaceful, law abiding and united throughout the electoral process, stressing that internal harmony and collective responsibility remain essential to sustaining the ideals and vision of the Labour Party. He further charged stakeholders to continue working tirelessly towards deepening the party’s acceptance across communities and strengthening democratic participation at the grassroots.

Hon. Aguocha also reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive leadership, consultation and continuous engagement with party faithfuls, emphasizing that the Labour Party remains a people oriented movement driven by transparency, accountability and service to the masses. According to him, the direct primary election presents another opportunity for members to demonstrate political maturity and commitment to democratic principles.

The stakeholders’ meeting also created an avenue for extensive consultations and interactions among party leaders, with participants exchanging ideas and discussing modalities aimed at ensuring a peaceful, transparent and successful primary election exercise across the constituency.

Several party leaders who spoke during the meeting commended the leadership style of the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, as well as Hon.
