Abia Would Have Gone Into Oblivion if Not for Alex Otti’s Emergence — Onyekwere Akym Uche

International business man, Politician and founder of the OAU foundation, High Chief Onyekwere Akym Uche (OAU), has declared that Abia State would have descended into total oblivion if not for the emergence of Dr Alex Otti as governor at a critical point in the state’s political and economic history.

Onyekwere Akym Uche made the assertion while addressing journalists in Umuahia, where he extensively reviewed the current administration’s performance and the condition of the state before the assumption of office by Gov Otti. He stated that prior to the present administration, Abia was confronted with worsening infrastructural decay, poor public service delivery, economic stagnation, and widespread loss of confidence in governance.

According to him, many residents had almost resigned themselves to hopelessness as public institutions continued to deteriorate while critical sectors of the economy suffered years of neglect. He noted that the commercial reputation of Aba was rapidly declining due to bad roads, environmental challenges, insecurity, and the absence of strategic government intervention aimed at revitalizing economic activities in the state.

He, however, maintained that the emergence of Alex Otti marked the beginning of a new era of responsible governance, accountability, and infrastructural renewal in Abia State. Onyekwere commended the governor for what he described as bold leadership decisions and practical reforms that have gradually restored public confidence in government. He pointed to the ongoing road projects, sanitation improvements, educational reforms, healthcare interventions, and enhanced civil service administration as visible signs of transformation across the state.

The stakeholder further stated that the administration’s development-driven policies have repositioned Abia as a state with renewed economic potential and investment prospects. He observed that traders, entrepreneurs, and ordinary citizens now conduct their activities with greater optimism due to the improving business environment and increased government responsiveness to the needs of the people.

OAU also applauded the governor’s commitment to prudent management of public resources, stressing that transparency and accountability have become more evident in the state’s governance structure. He argued that unlike in previous years when many projects existed only on paper, the present administration has demonstrated sincerity through projects that citizens can physically see and benefit from.

He urged Abians to continue supporting the administration in its efforts to rebuild the state, emphasizing that sustainable development requires unity, patience, and collective participation from all stakeholders. According to him, the progress already recorded under Gov Otti’s leadership clearly shows that Abia is gradually recovering from years of decline and moving steadily toward economic stability and sustainable growth.

Akym concluded by insisting that history would remain kind to Gov Alex Otti for rescuing the state from what he described as a dangerous path toward oblivion, adding that many Abians now see renewed hope for a brighter and more prosperous future under the current administration.
