Operators of commercial vehicles across the country have been urged to adopt the installation of dashboard cameras, commonly known as dash cams, as part of efforts to tackle rising insecurity on highways.
The Sterling Human Resource Development and Logistics Limited made the call in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Idowu Fulfilment, on Friday.
According to the statement, the company urged transport operators to take proactive steps in addressing increasing cases of banditry, kidnapping, and violent crimes affecting commuters, especially on inter-state routes.
The company highlighted the importance of adopting technology-driven solutions to strengthen security, noting that collaboration among private sector stakeholders, transport operators, and security agencies is essential.
It stated, “The company emphasises the growing need for technology-driven solutions in addressing Nigeria’s highway security challenges.
“The increasing rate of attacks on commuters, particularly on inter-state routes, requires a coordinated effort between private sector actors, transport operators, and security agencies.”
According to the firm, installing dash cams in commercial buses, taxis, and logistics vehicles would help provide real-time visual evidence and aid law enforcement efforts.
