Hon. Obi Aguocha, Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has welcomed the recent judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja which affirmed the Nenadi Usman led caretaker executive of the Labour Party, describing the ruling as a decisive step toward restoring order, legality, and internal cohesion within the party.

Reacting to the judgment delivered by Justice Peter Lifu, Aguocha noted that the court’s reliance on the Supreme Court verdict of April 4, 2025, underscored the supremacy of the rule of law and the importance of respecting judicial authority in the management of political parties. The ruling effectively removed Julius Abure as national chairman and recognized former Minister of Finance, Senator Nenadi Usman, as the legitimate head of the party’s caretaker leadership pending the conduct of a national convention.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Hon Obi Aguocha commended Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti, for what he described as steadfast, principled, and calm leadership throughout the period of uncertainty that trailed the party’s national leadership dispute. He said Gov Otti’s commitment to due process and institutional integrity had helped to keep the Labour Party focused on governance and service delivery rather than internal strife.

According to Aguocha, the court verdict provides much needed clarity and a solid foundation for reconciliation and rebuilding within the party. He stressed that the affirmation of the caretaker executive offers an opportunity for members to close ranks, heal divisions, and redirect their energies toward advancing the party’s progressive ideals and the welfare of Nigerians.

The federal lawmaker further described Senator Nenadi Usman as a seasoned administrator with the experience and discipline required to oversee a credible transition process. He expressed confidence that under her leadership, the party would conduct an inclusive and transparent national convention that reflects the collective will of members across the country.

Hon Aguocha also used the occasion to urge party faithful to remain law abiding and to place the long term stability of the Labour Party above personal interests. He emphasized that internal democracy and respect for judicial pronouncements are essential pillars for any political organization that seeks to offer a credible alternative to Nigerians.

He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the Labour Party and its vision of people centered governance, accountability, and social justice. Aguocha concluded by congratulating Gov Otti once again, noting that the governor’s maturity and consistency during the leadership crisis had strengthened the party’s image both in Abia State and at the national level.
