The Chief Whip of the Abia State House of Assembly and Member representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. Emeka Obioma (Tommy), on Sunday joined the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, at the dedication service of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church, Umuogo Ubakala, in Umuahia South Local Government Area.
The solemn yet joyous ceremony attracted a large gathering of government officials, traditional rulers, clergy, community leaders, and members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, who assembled to witness the formal consecration of the newly completed church edifice. The atmosphere was marked by reverence, thanksgiving, and collective prayers for the spiritual and social wellbeing of the community.
In his remarks, Hon. Emeka Obioma congratulated the leadership and congregation of the SDA Church, Umuogo Ubakala, on the successful completion of the project. He described the church building as a powerful symbol of faith, sacrifice, and unity of purpose, noting that such achievements are only possible through sustained commitment and shared vision.
According to him, faith-based institutions play an indispensable role in shaping moral values, strengthening social cohesion, and supporting community development.
The Chief Whip further stated that the Abia State House of Assembly remains committed to partnering with religious organizations that promote peace, discipline, and ethical conduct within society.
He commended the Seventh-day Adventist Church for its longstanding contributions to education, healthcare, and humanitarian services, adding that these efforts complement government initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens.
Gov Alex Otti, in his goodwill message, praised the SDA Church for its consistency in upholding spiritual values and contributing meaningfully to societal progress. He reiterated his administration’s respect for religious institutions and affirmed the government’s readiness to work closely with faith-based bodies in advancing good governance, unity, and sustainable development across Abia State.
The dedication service featured scriptural exhortations, prayers of consecration, and soul-lifting musical renditions, all centered on thanksgiving to God and the rededication of lives to service, peace, and love.
Special prayers were also offered for the continued stability, progress, and prosperity of Abia State and the nation at large.
