Boniface shares rehab progress on long road to recovery

VIDEO: Super Eagles striker Boniface begins rehabilitation after knee surgery
The Nigeria international opted for the procedure after weeks of medical consultations and has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.

Boniface confirmed the next phase of his recovery in a short video shared on Snapchat on Sunday, showing him working closely with a physiotherapist.

In the clip, the forward was seen doing light leg stretches before walking with the aid of a support device, signalling that his structured rehabilitation programme is officially underway.
The operation addressed a long-standing issue in his right knee that had affected both his availability and performance throughout the campaign.

Super Eagles players, led by captain Wilfred Ndidi and vice-captain Victor Osimhen, have sent goodwill messages to their teammate following the successful surgery.

Boniface underwent the procedure on Saturday at a time when the national team were locked in a tense quarter-final clash against Algeria at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco. Nigeria emerged 2-0 winners.
A video shared on Sunday by sports content creator Calister Enejele on Instagram captured the moment players took turns to encourage the forward, who last featured for the Super Eagles in May 2025.

“I just want to wish you a speedy recovery. I know you’re strong and you will come back stronger,” Ndidi said.

“Wish you a quick recovery. I believe you will come back stronger,” Osimhen added.
