The Amuzukwu community in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State has expressed strong appreciation to the Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency, Hon. Obi Aguocha, following the successful completion of a major education infrastructure project at Amuzukwu Secondary School.
The project, executed under the 2023 UBEC/ASUBEB Intervention Programme, is widely regarded as a significant boost to public education and learning standards within the area.
The completed intervention involved the renovation, rehabilitation, and reconstruction of a storey school hall alongside six classrooms within the secondary school. The upgraded facilities are designed to provide a safer, more conducive, and modern learning environment for students and teachers, addressing long-standing infrastructure challenges that had affected teaching and learning in the school.
The project was commissioned by the Abia State Universal Basic Education Board in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen basic and secondary education across the state. Construction work was handled by Robinagra Resources Ltd, while supervision was carried out by the Physical Planning Department of ASUBEB, Umuahia, ensuring strict adherence to approved specifications, quality standards, and timely delivery.
Residents have described the completed project as a welcome development that reflects responsive representation and effective collaboration between federal and state education authorities. The improved classrooms and hall are expected to ease congestion, enhance safety, and create a more motivating academic atmosphere for students, while also supporting teachers in delivering quality instruction.
Reacting to the completion of the project, Hon. Aguocha reaffirmed his commitment to education as a cornerstone of sustainable development. He noted that quality infrastructure remains essential for meaningful learning outcomes and human capital growth.
“Education is the foundation upon which every progressive society is built,” he said.
“When our children learn in secure and well-equipped environments, we are investing directly in the future of our communities and our state.”
He further emphasized that attracting and completing the UBEC-supported project was part of a broader agenda to prioritize people-oriented development across the constituency. According to him, consistent engagement with relevant agencies and effective oversight are key to ensuring that public projects move beyond approval stages to actual completion and impact.
“Our focus is not just attracting projects, but ensuring they are completed to standard and truly serve the people,” Aguocha stated.
The federal lawmaker also encouraged continued community ownership of public facilities, stressing that proper maintenance and collective responsibility would help sustain the benefits of the intervention. He reiterated his pledge to continue advocating for more educational and social infrastructure projects that respond directly to the needs of constituents.
With the completion of the Amuzukwu Secondary School rehabilitation, the project stands as another example of ongoing efforts to revitalize public education infrastructure in Abia State.
