Abia 2027 governorship aspirant and renowned grassroots mobiliser, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, has delivered a stirring New Year message to Abians across all 17 local government areas, urging citizens to embrace the new year with courage, unity, and unwavering determination as the state opens a fresh chapter in its development journey.
In his message, Chief Uzor Kalu commended the resilience and industrious spirit of ordinary Abians, describing traders, farmers, artisans, youths, women, and civil servants as the true pillars of the state who have persevered through years of hardship without losing hope.
He stressed that the coming year should mark a decisive turning point, one in which the voice of the grassroots is no longer ignored but respected, amplified, and prioritized in governance.
Chief Uzor Kalu noted that while Abia is richly endowed with hardworking citizens and abundant human resources, many communities continue to face neglect, unemployment, and infrastructural decay. He emphasised that the time has come for leadership that genuinely understands the struggles of the people, walks the dusty roads with them, listens to their concerns in village squares, and delivers practical solutions that improve everyday lives.
Describing the New Year as a season of awakening, he urged Abians not to surrender their future to despair or empty promises. He called on the youth to remain focused, resilient, and courageous, assuring them that their energy, innovation, and ideas are essential to rebuilding Abia from the grassroots upward.
Chief Uzor Kalu further underscored that authentic governance is rooted in service, compassion, and accountability; not personal enrichment or detached leadership. He pledged to continue engaging communities directly, consulting widely, and standing resolutely with the people in their pursuit of inclusive development, economic empowerment, and restored dignity.
Appealing to traditional rulers, community leaders, market unions, youth groups, and women’s associations, he emphasised the importance of unity and collective action, stressing that no community should be left behind in Abia’s journey toward a stronger, fairer, and more prosperous future.
