Obi Aguocha Secures Automatic Ticket as Otti Backs Continuity in Reps Race

The member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Obi Aguocha, has received an automatic ticket to seek re-election ahead of the next general elections, following the endorsement of serving federal lawmakers by the administration of Alex Otti.
The development has sparked widespread reactions across the constituency, with political stakeholders and supporters describing the gesture as a recognition of Aguocha’s performance, legislative contributions, and sustained engagement with the grassroots since his emergence in the National Assembly.
Aguocha officially obtained his Nomination and Expression of Interest forms alongside other serving lawmakers of the Labour Party seeking continuity in the Green Chambers. They include Ibe Okwara Osonwa representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Ginger Obinna Onwusibe representing Isiala Ngwa North/Isiala Ngwa South Federal Constituency, and Amobi Ogah representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency.
Political observers, however, noted that Aguocha's representation has continued to attract commendation from constituents and supporters across the federal constituency. Many described him as a vocal and accessible lawmaker who has consistently projected the interests of his people at the national level.
Stakeholders within Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South noted that Aguocha’s decision to seek another term reflects his determination to consolidate on ongoing constituency projects, expand empowerment programmes, and strengthen people-oriented legislation capable of delivering more democratic dividends to the constituency.

Supporters also pointed to his interventions in education, youth empowerment, community development, and national advocacy as factors that have strengthened public confidence in his leadership. According to several constituents, the lawmaker has maintained regular engagement with the people while demonstrating commitment to issues affecting the South East and the nation at large.
The endorsement is expected to further reinforce the Labour Party’s political structure in Abia State ahead of future elections, as party faithful and grassroots supporters continue to rally behind Aguocha’s bid for continuity in the House of Representatives.
