The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Niger State chapter, has sent a plea to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to grant Mazi Nnamdi Kanu Presidential Amnesty.
The outgoing President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Niger State Chapter, Chief Emmanuel Ezeugo, made the plea in an interview in Minna in which he said that President Tinubu’s intervention would go a long way to foster peace in the country.
Chief Ezeugo explained that the appeal was rooted in the desire for a more united nation and the belief that the President, as a father to all, has the constitutional powers to exercise his prerogative of mercy where necessary in the interest of national cohesion.
“Our plea is simple: we respectfully appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to use his powers of constitutional prerogative of mercy to grant Mazi Nnamdi Kanu a pardon. This gesture will help calm nerves, promote peace, and further demonstrate the President’s commitment to inclusiveness.
Ezeugo pointed out that the call was not to absolve anyone of responsibility but to encourage a path to dialogue, reconciliation, and national unity.
He urged all stakeholders to support efforts that promote peace and national integration in the spirit of national healing, unity, and reconciliation.
