In a touching demonstration of people-focused representation, Hon. Lucky Udoka Nweke Johnson, the member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, has announced the commencement of a life-changing housing intervention for Mr. Ugeh, a native of Amaji Amagwu Umuasua community who has been displaced from his hometown for over twenty years.
Hon. Johnson’s decision follows a visit by his team to Mr. Ugeh’s temporary residence in Amaokwe Amaba community, where he has been squatting with his family due to a lack of shelter in his own village. According to sources close to the lawmaker, the discovery of the family’s living conditions struck a deep emotional chord, prompting immediate action.
Investigations revealed that Mr. Ugeh left his hometown more than two decades ago because he had no home or land to return to. His prolonged absence was not by choice, but the painful reality of having nowhere to lay his head in the community he calls home.
Moved by the situation, Hon. Lucky Johnson has approved the immediate construction of a modern two-bedroom bungalow for the family. The project, which is set to begin tomorrow morning, will be executed by his team of engineers under his direct supervision. The house is expected to provide Mr. Ugeh with dignity, comfort, and long-overdue reintegration into his community.
While speaking about the gesture, Hon. Johnson said the project represents his understanding of leadership as a duty to uplift those who are forgotten or overlooked.
“I believe that representation must touch lives in real and practical ways,” he said. “When I saw the condition of Mr. Ugeh and his family, I knew it was something we had to address without delay. No constituent of mine should feel abandoned or without a place to call home.”
