The Isuikwuato Development Union (IDU), National Assembly, has announced Hon. Onyekwere Akym Uche (OAU) as a distinguished recipient of the prestigious Nwannukwu Community Service Award, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to community growth, public service, and social impact across Isuikwuato.
The honour, which is one of the most esteemed awards conferred by the IDU, celebrates individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the welfare and development of the Isuikwuato community.
According to the Union, OAU emerged unanimously as a worthy recipient following years of consistent service, advocacy, and empowerment initiatives that have brought pride and progress to the area.
In a formal letter signed by the President General of the Union, Chidiebere Uguru JP, and the Secretary General, Enyioma Ekebuike, the IDU described Akym Uche as a “renowned and worthy ambassador of Isuikwuato whose work continues to positively impact lives.”
The Union noted that the Nwannukwu Award is reserved for individuals who have distinguished themselves in their fields of endeavour and whose contributions reflect the values of excellence, integrity, and compassion.
“The Nwannukwu Award is bestowed on individuals who have distinguished themselves in their services that have positively impacted our community,” the letter read.
“It is equally given to those who are renowned in their field of endeavour and can be counted as worthy ambassadors of Isuikwuato through their vocation.”
The award is scheduled to be formally presented on December 24, 2025, at Isuikwuato High School (Annunco) Field, Mbalano, by 10 a.m., during the 2025 Isuikwuato Nwannukwu Cultural Festival, an annual celebration of heritage, unity, and communal achievements.
Speaking on the forthcoming recognition, IDU President General Chidiebere Uguru and the Secretary General, Enyioma Ekebuike praised Hon Onyekwere Akym Uche for his enduring commitment to the progress of Isuikwuato, describing him as a role model to younger generations within the community. Also reaffirming the Union’s decision as one rooted in fairness, merit, and sincere appreciation for the impact made over the years.
This upcoming award is viewed as a well-deserved recognition of a man whose work has consistently uplifted Isuikwuato.
