The All Progressives Congress has intensified efforts to strengthen data-driven decision-making and strategic planning ahead of future elections, with the party positioning The Progressive Institute as its ideological and research nerve centre.
The National Chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, stated this on Tuesday during a facility tour of TPI in Abuja, where he reaffirmed the party’s commitment to institutional stability, intellectual rigour and evidence-based policymaking.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser (Media), Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda said the visit underscored the resolve of the current APC leadership to anchor political strategy on credible research, opinion polling and structured engagement with key sectors of society.
To this end, he announced plans to deepen support for TPI, particularly in the areas of opinion polling, policy research and strategic decision-making, which he said would be critical to guiding the party’s choices ahead of elections.
We need credible opinion polls and rigorous research to guide our strategic choices, and I expect the Institute to be of immense assistance to the party in this regard,” Yilwatda said.
He described TPI as central to stabilising the party and strengthening its internal democratic processes, adding that the APC was committed to building structured relationships with academia, civil society, development partners and the private sector.
On capacity development, the APC chairman assured that the party would work with stakeholders to ensure nationwide participation in TPI-led training programmes, while also exploring ways to support the Institute through land acquisition at a location accessible to the international community.
